Under a full moon one summer night in the White Mountains, Coyote Chris bounded up the cliff and leaped into the firelight. A shower of sparks exploded from the shadows in the mouth of the cave. "Does Mescalito reveal why?" Coyote said, "Eagle in my dream." Don Stefan put his palms together and bowed. A flock of geese cast a moving shadow across the face of the moon. In the morning, music still echoed in the valleys bathed in rainbows by the rising sun.
Coyote Chris and Don Stefan (Christopher Higgins and Stefan Schindler) present original poetry and music, mixing haiku with songs metaphysical and political. This spoken-word experiment ranges from rock'n'roll and the blues to avant-garde invocations of alchemy, gnomes and full moon meditations in the mountains.
Partly an ode to the struggling native populations of Ecuador, Kashmir and Tibet, Stefan's lyrics and Coyote's music mix zen bells and baboon calls with acoustic and electric guitars and references to tribal deities and shamanic journeys. It's a multidimensional adventure, designed for postmodern musico-poetic pilgrims on a path with heart.
Coyote is a singer song-writer, multi-instrumentalist and world traveler. Stefan is a teacher, poet, political essayist and Tarot reader. This 22 song CD is an hour of playing time, and includes a version of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir." Coyote and Stefan invite you to share a pilgrim's progress. Listen to our audio-clip and see what you think.
